01 / UNDERSTAND

Here is what is happening.

A short message can feel different to the reader than you intended. Before sending, ask whether it is kind and clear. If a message upsets or confuses you, you can stop replying and talk with a trusted adult. You never have to keep an upsetting online interaction secret.

Pause. Make the idea your own.

Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

You can use a home language. No need to share personal experiences or finish everything in one sitting.
02 / MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Your little investigation

What you need

Paper and a pencil, or a partner to talk with. Drawing and speaking are welcome.

  1. Compare imaginary messages: “You are bad” and “Can we try that turn again?”

  2. Explain which talks about the action rather than insulting the person.

  3. Write a kind request for a game or group activity.

03 / CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING
