A word for a feeling
A story character can feel more than one thing.
Take your time. Speak, draw or write your answers.
Here is what is happening.
Imagine Tara starting a new class. She may feel excited and unsure at the same time. Feelings do not make someone good or bad. We can name a possible feeling and ask rather than decide what another person must feel. You may talk about the fictional character instead of sharing a personal story.

Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

Paper and a pencil, or a partner to talk with. Drawing and speaking are welcome.
Draw Tara before meeting her class. Choose two possible feeling words.
Write or say a kind question a classmate could ask.
Give Tara two different ways to join when she feels ready.
