01 / UNDERSTAND

Here is what is happening.

A resource-use study needs a clear boundary and consistent units. Counting tap uses is not the same as measuring water volume, because duration and flow vary. Start with an observation plan that does not waste water. Use example data if real measurement would be unsafe or intrusive.

Pause. Make the idea your own.

Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

You can use a home language. No need to share personal experiences or finish everything in one sitting.
02 / MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Your little investigation

What you need

Paper and a pencil, or a partner to talk with. Drawing and speaking are welcome.

  1. Use example totals: activity A uses 12 litres; B uses 8 litres. Find the total.

  2. Suggest one change and say what you would measure to check it.

  3. List limits: number of observations, differences between days and measurement method.

03 / CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING

Do ten tap uses necessarily consume more than five?
