Draw a road into the distance
How can a flat page suggest depth?
Take your time. Speak, draw or write your answers.
Here is what is happening.
In a simple one-point perspective drawing, parallel edges going away from you can appear to meet at a vanishing point. Similar objects usually appear smaller as their distance increases. This is a drawing model, not a rule that all lines meet.
Your little investigation
What you need
Paper, pencil and a ruler if available.
Draw a horizon line and one point on it.
Draw two road edges from the bottom toward the point.
Add trees that become smaller toward the horizon.
How would equal-height trees usually appear farther away?
