Here is what is happening.
A mistake gives information about a particular attempt, not a person’s whole ability. Imagine a paper model that falls over. Instead of calling the maker careless, inspect the base, material and instructions. Choose one change, try again and compare. Asking for help is part of learning.
Pause. Make the idea your own.
Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

Paper and a pencil, or a partner to talk with. Drawing and speaking are welcome.
Draw a fictional model that tips over and list two possible reasons.
Choose one change and predict what it might improve.
