Your room, from above
Turn a familiar place into a map someone else can read.
Take your time. Speak, draw or write your answers.
Here is what is happening.
A plan shows a place as if viewed from above. Symbols represent things; a key explains them. A scale connects a distance on paper with a distance in the real place.
Your little investigation
What you need
Paper and a ruler. Imagine measurements if measuring is difficult. Do not share your home layout online.
Imagine a room 4 metres by 3 metres. Use 1 cm for 1 metre.
Draw a 4 cm by 3 cm rectangle and add a door symbol.
Write a key and ask a friend to explain the plan.
At this scale, how long is a 2 metre table on the plan?
