01 / UNDERSTAND

Here is what is happening.

A food web models feeding relationships. In the convention used here, arrows point from food to the organism that eats it, showing energy transfer. Changing one population may affect several others, but the direction and size of effects depend on the wider system. A diagram is a simplification.

Pause. Make the idea your own.

Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

You can use a home language. No need to share personal experiences or finish everything in one sitting.
02 / MAKE IT YOUR OWN

  1. Draw grass → grasshopper → frog, then add another food source for the frog.

  2. Predict a possible effect of fewer grasshoppers and label it as a prediction.
