01 / UNDERSTAND

Here is what is happening.

A small shade model lets you explore coverage and access on paper. The Sun’s direction changes, so one position does not guarantee all-day shade. A real structure also needs professional checks for strength and safety. This activity is a tabletop planning model, not building advice.

Pause. Make the idea your own.

Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

You can use a home language. No need to share personal experiences or finish everything in one sitting.
02 / MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Your little investigation

What you need

Paper and a pencil, or a partner to talk with. Drawing and speaking are welcome.

  1. Draw a reading bench, a walking route and a possible shade cover.

  2. Mark light from two directions with arrows and compare possible shaded areas.

  3. Revise the plan so the walking route remains clear.

03 / CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING

What should you check besides shaded area?
