Here is what is happening.

Density compares mass with volume: density = mass ÷ volume. A large object can have a lower density than a small one. Units matter: grams per cubic centimetre differ from grams alone. Our example blocks are invented for calculation; their values do not identify a real material.

  2. Block B has mass 24 g and volume 12 cm³. Compare it with A.

  3. Draw both volumes and explain why equal mass does not imply equal density.
