Choose a next step you can control
A useful plan is more specific than “be the best”.
Take your time. Speak, draw or write your answers.
Here is what is happening.
A learning goal can focus on an action: explain one concept clearly, revise a draft or test three cases. Results are influenced by many factors, so compare work with explicit criteria rather than someone’s worth. Plans should allow rest, help and adjustment when circumstances change.
Pause. Make the idea your own.
Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?
You can use a home language. No need to share personal experiences or finish everything in one sitting.Your little investigation
What you need
Paper and a pencil, or a partner to talk with. Drawing and speaking are welcome.
Turn “I must be better than everyone” into a specific learning action.
Choose evidence that would show progress without ranking classmates.
Add a review point, a break and someone you could ask for help.
Which is an action you can plan?
