A readable diagram can be an imperfect scale model.
Here is what is happening.
The Solar System contains objects separated by distances much larger than their sizes. A poster may enlarge planets so they can be seen while compressing distances. Separate the size scale from the distance scale before interpreting it. A clear diagram should explain which features are simplified.

Explain one idea to a partner, draw it or write it in your own words. Which part is an observation, an example or a question?

Create a model where 1 unit of distance becomes 1 cm, using example values 1, 5 and 10.
Choose visible circles independently and label that their sizes use a different scale.
Explain which comparisons your model supports and which it cannot support.
